ADC Suspends Ondo Congresses Over INEC Directive Amid Internal Crisis
The Ondo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress has suspended its ward, local government, and state congresses in compliance with a directive from the Independent National Electoral Commission.
In a statement issued by the state chairman, Wole Ademoyegun, the party said the move follows INEC’s instruction for political parties to maintain the status quo pending the resolution of ongoing disputes.
The party called on members to remain calm, united, and law-abiding, warning against any unauthorized meetings or actions that could disrupt peace. It added that security agencies have been notified to prevent activities that may violate the directive.
The development is linked to the party’s internal leadership crisis, which has seen disagreements involving figures such as David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, as well as disputes over the tenure of former national chairman, Ralph Nwosu.
Despite the crisis, the party says it remains committed to due process and will participate in the 2027 general elections.
