INEC wants govt to create agency that will prosecute electoral offenders

The Independent National Electoral Commission has called on the government to create an agency that will arrest, investigate and prosecute electoral offenders.

INEC head of publicity and voter education, Oluwole Osaze- Uzi, said such agency will ease the burden on INEC.

Osaze-uzi explained that the commission is looking to change the section of the constitution that compels INEC to accept candidates presented by political parties regardless of how they emerged.

He called on the government to make stringent laws to punish electoral offenders to serve as deterrence to others.
