Ondo Govt. Introduces 7-Passenger Tricycle ‘Rural Aketi’, Gets Assembly Plant
Ondo State Government is introducing what it calls “Rural Aketi” project to aid transportation system in the rural areas of the state.
The project will employ the use of a special tricycle with capacity to transport 7 people at a time.
It will also bring a plant where the tricycles would be assembled to the state, with vocational Centre across the state to train engineering graduates.
The Special Adviser to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on Transport Tobi Ogunleye explained that the project is being embarked upon in collaboration with a Chinese company to make movement of farm produce from the rural areas to the urban Centre easy.
Ogunleye stated this today while addressing journalists at the governor’s office in Akure.
He said the would beneficiaries of the tricycles would be expected to make a down payment of 25% of the total cost of #900,000.
The rest of the money according to Ogunleye would be paid within 20 months while the tricycles would have been insured.
