Ondo Govt, EU Sign MoU on Project Intervention In Oil Producing Areas
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, says implementation of the Niger Delta Support Programme (NDSP4), micro project component in the State will largely address the issue of restiveness in the Niger Delta region.
Akeredolu made this known today during the launch and signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), between the state and the European Union (EU) for the implementation of the NDSP4 Programme.
He noted that the Micro project programme has over 60 completed projects across the 18 local governments comprising 15 water projects, 12 educational blocks, 9 health posts, 9 Civic Centres, 9 Markets and 6 Agro-processing industries.
The Governor disclosed that additional projects will be will be constructed in three local government areas of Akoko North West, Ilaje and Ondo East.
Leader of the European Union team, Engr Soba Ibrahim, said the intervention programme of the European Union in the Niger Delta states is aimed at developing the region.
He noted that the EU, through its Technical Assistant Project Implementation Committee, would participate in the monitoring of of the programmes and ensure they are well executed.
