Akume Defends Tinubu’s Performance, Calls for Northern Support Until 2031
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, has told northern politicians to wait until 2031 before contesting for the presidency.
He said President Bola Tinubu has done well so far and should be allowed to continue beyond 2027 to complete his plans for the country.
Akume was speaking in Kaduna at a two-day citizens’ engagement event organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation.
He dismissed claims that the North is being left out, adding that several key appointments have gone to the region and major projects like the Sokoto–Bagary Super Highway are ongoing.
Akume said Tinubu’s achievements in security, agriculture, and infrastructure are already showing results.
He added that subsidy removal has given states more funds for development.
The SGF urged northern politicians to support the president and avoid any move that may derail ongoing progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
