Ekiti Court Sentences 2 To Death For Armed Robbery
An Ekiti State High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti has sentenced two men Adam and Mutiu to death over armed robbery and murder.
The state Chief Judge, Justice Ayodeji Daramola, convicted the accused persons for
committing armed robbery offence contrary to Section (1) 2 (a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Laws of the Federation
of Nigeria 2014.
The chief judge also found them guilty of murder contrary to Section 316 (1) offence punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ekiti State, 2015.
According to the charge prefer against the accused persons, Adams and Mutiu committed the offences on 22nd January, 2014 at Fiyinfolu Avenue, off Ilawe Road, Ado-Ekiti when
the suspects robbed Arowosere Kabiru of N12,800 while armed with dangerous
weapons.
The two convicts in the course of their robbery operation murdered Ojo Adebola.
The accused were led in evidence by the State Director of Legal Aid Council, Olaitan Adeloye.
One of the eyewitnesses who was among the victims of the attack identified the accused persons at the identification parade conducted by the state police command.
The Chief Judge in his ruling ruled that the accused persons will face the supreme punishment for the offence of armed robbery and murder.
