Farmers, herders clash leaves atleast 22 people dead in chad
Chadian authorities say 22 people have been killed and another 18 wounded in fighting between farmers and herders in the western province of Hadjer-Lamis.
A government spokesman, Abdramane Koulamallah, said troops were deployed to maintain order and that calm had been restored.
Tensions between indigenous settled farmers and nomadic Arab herders in the region are longstanding and occasionally erupt into deadly clashes.
The provincial governor, Amina Kodjiana, told newsmen that the conflict broke out on Saturday between the settled Boulala people and Arab nomads in the village of Zohana, 200 kilometres (124 miles) east of the capital, N’djamena.
