South West governors, Miyetti Allah agree to flush out killer
Southwest governors and leadership of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria have resolved to work with security agencies to stamp out criminals marauding as herders.
They also agreed to set up a standing committees comprising of farmers, herders and the government across the south west to ensure synergy.
The resolution was reached at the end of a peace meeting between south west governors and the Miyetti Allah cattle breeders association.
The meeting was call at the instance of the Nigerian Governors Forum.
The chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and governor of Ekiti state, Dr Kayode Fayemi read the resolutions.
They also agreed to outlaw under-aged and night grazing across the region.
Meanwhile, South West governors have condemned criminal activities by bandits, kidnappers, and rapists who hide in forests to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens.
The governors spoke at a meeting with the national leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, and heads of security agencies in Akure, Ondo state capital.
They vowed to protect their citizens from the incessant attacks and promote good neighbourliness through collaborative efforts.
The host governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu said kidnappers are using forest reserves as an area of operation.
Akeredolu promised to work with relevant stakeholders to chase all criminals from the state.
Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde said criminality will not be used to solve criminality.
Osun state governor Adegboyega Oyetola said criminality has no ethnic coloration.
He noted that criminals masquerading as herdsmen must be identified.
