Ondo Assembly lashes Christian body for failing responsibilities

The Ondo State House of Assembly has called on the Christian welfare board to be awake to its mandate.

Chairman house committee on women affairs and social development, Favour Tomomewo gave this charge during an oversight visit to the board.

Tomomewo criticised the Christian body for not going the extra mile, in instilling discipline among the youth.

She was reacting to the board’s complaint about abscondment of some youths during their pilgrimage to Jerusalem.

The committee chairman advised the board to lay down some policies that will guide against absondment, instead of denying the youths the benefit of experiencing the pilgrimage.

Tomomewo advised youths to avoid habits that could stop their benefitting from such opportunities.

In his response, secretary of the board, Tunde Ilésanmí explained that the board put stringent conditions on youth category due to incessant cases of abscondment.
