Ukraine swears-in sixth President

Ukrainian comedian Volodymyr Zelensky has been sworn in as the country’s new president.

The swearing in ceremony took place in the country’s capital, Kiev.

With no previous political experience, Mr. Zelensky scored a landslide victory in last month’s presidential election.

He ousted incumbent Petro Poroshenko who had been in power since 2014.

Meanwhile, the president has announced a snap parliamentary election during his swearing in president.

The election was expected to take place in October 2019, but new president says he would dissolve the parliament.

He added that ending the conflict with Russian-backed rebels in the east would be his top priority.
