APC Accuses Atiku, ADC of Plot to Discredit Presidential Campaign Rally in Kaduna

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has accused former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) of allegedly planning to discredit the party’s presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna.

The council made the allegation in a statement issued on Saturday, October 24, 2026, by its spokesperson, Dele Alake.

It claimed that the alleged plot involved the circulation of fake news, manipulated documents, artificial intelligence-generated content and deepfake videos aimed at undermining the rally, President Bola Tinubu, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani and other APC leaders.

The council cited reports concerning a security vehicle near an APC campaign billboard in Kaduna and an online letter purportedly written by Governor Uba Sani to the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdulaziz Yari.

According to the council, the letter allegedly claimed that the Kaduna State Government released ₦2.3 trillion to host the rally, a figure it described as false and unrealistic.

It argued that the purported amount exceeded the combined Kaduna State budgets for 2024, 2025 and 2026, which it put at approximately ₦2.23 trillion.

The APC campaign council further alleged that old, doctored and deepfake videos could be circulated during the rally to create the impression that residents were opposed to the event.

It urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and reject what it described as attempts to mislead the public.

However, the allegations against Atiku Abubakar and the ADC were contained in the APC campaign council’s statement. The statement did not provide independent evidence establishing their involvement in the alleged disinformation campaign.
