Ekiti Assembly Speaker, Funminiyi Afuye, is dead
Ekiti State House of Assembly has announced the death of its Speaker, Rt Hon Funminiyi Afuye
A statement by the Chairman House Committee on Media and Publicity, Hon Yemisi Ayokunle, said the Speaker died after a brief illness in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday evening.
The statement declared a 7- day mourning period in honor of the departed Speaker, while the flag in the Assembly complex shall be fly at half mast.
Rt Hon Hon Afuye, was described as an embodiment of courage, excellence and a committed man to public service which will be greatly missed.
Meanwhile, the State Government has postponed the swearing – in ceremony for the newly appointed Secretary to the State Government, Dr ( Mrs) Habibat Adubiaro and the Attorney -General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Dayo Apata, SAN.
The swearing – in ceremony which was initially scheduled for today October will now hold at a new date to be announced later.
Also, as a mark of honour for the deceased, the Governor’s special thanksgiving service slated for Sunday, has been postponed indefinitely.
