INEC fixes date for Osun LG election

The Osun Independent Electoral Commission has announced October 15 for the conduct of local governments election in the state

The chairman of Osun Independent Electoral Commission Segun Oladitan made the announcement at a press conference held in Osogbo the Osun state capital.

The OSIEC chairman said the Commission will be conducting the election on the newly assented Osun state electoral act 2022 passed by the State Assembly which is presidential system as against the parliament system used in the conduct of 2018 local government election.

He also hinted that the commission has had a parley with all the political parties in the state to brief them on the process of the election.

Oladitan promised to ensure that the election is free,fair and credible calling on journalists in the state to give balance and fair reportage of the commission activities before,during and after the elections.

Also speaking the some representatives of various political parties Masilo Adeyemo of boot party and Oluwatosin Odeyemi of New Nigeria people’s party Oluwatosin Odeyemi noted that the election is long overdue and that is what all political parties in the state are clamouring for.

Adeyemo and Odeyemi expressed readiness to participate in the election if osiec is ready to go by their words in ensuring that the election is free ,fair and transparent
