The attack followed the killing of a farmer, identified as Rasheed Hassan, with the police confirming the arrest of 14 suspects in connection with the incident.
According to the Ondo State Police Command, two suspects arrested over Hassan’s death were being taken to the police station on October 26, 2026, when an angry mob allegedly confronted those conveying them and demanded their release for extrajudicial killing.

The police said preliminary findings showed deep cuts on the farmer’s head and other parts of his body, while some of his belongings were reportedly missing.
The command added that investigations commenced immediately to identify those responsible for the killing.
It further stated that the Ala Youth President had reportedly arrested two suspects before taking them to the police station for further action when the mob confronted him.
The police condemned the attack, stressing the need to allow lawful investigations and judicial processes to take their course.
