Stakeholders meet to tackle insecurity in Ondo

Stakeholders in Oka Akoko, have held a security summit in a bid to work out a blueprint on fighting the myriad of security challenges facing Ondo state in recent time.

Participants at the event include the Olubaka of Oka land, Oba Adebori Adeleye, the police, Amotekun corp, local vigilante groups, traditional hunters and religious leaders.

At the event, the Olubaka of Oka land, Oba Adebori Adeleye said the recent attack on saint Francis catholic church, Owo is a wake-up call for other communities in the state to be vigilant.

Oba Adeleye asked the people to be alerted always and take the security of their lives and property very seriously.

A retired Assistant inspector general of police, chief Ade Ajakaiye called for a synergy between the people and security agencies so as to ensure the safety of the society.

He asked the people to always be prepared and watchful.

The divisional police officer in charge of Oka Akoko, Mr Olanrewaju charged residents report all suspicious movements and persons to the police.

The lawmaker representing Akoko south west constituency 1 in the Ondo state house of assembly, Olugbenga Omole described the summit as timely in raising the consciousness of the people to their own security.

He said the state assembly is working with the state government to strengthen the Amotekun corp in order to perform more efficiently.

A communique is expected to be sent to all quarters in Oka Akoko for the communities and the leaders to take appropriate action.
