Protest rocks APC governorship primaries in Ekiti state

Protesters have thronged the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti state lamenting hijack of the governorship primary.

The protesters gathered at the entrance of the secretariat lamenting that the process is already manipulated in favour of a particular candidate.

They accused governor Kayode Fayemi of doctoring the party register expected to be used for the conduct of today’s primary election.

Gunshots were fired by security operatives and suspected political thugs leaving residents to scamper for safety.

A former lawmaker in the state, Mr Peter Omoyeni said the process has been manipulated.

One of the governorship aspirants, Dayo Adeyeye threatened to pull out of the process with other aspirants.

Another contender, Bamidele Faparusi condemned the exercise.

APC has adopted the direct primary mode for the exercise.
