Grant constitutional functions to traditional institutions, Akeredolu tells National Assembly
Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has called on the National Assembly to grant constitutional functions to Traditional Institutions in the country.
Governor Akeredolu spoke at the 4th Annual Symposium of the Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.
He said granting constitutional roles to traditional rulers would strengthen the present informal roles of the royal fathers to continue to mobilise their subjects for the maintenance of security.
The governor was represented by his Chief of Staff Olugbenga Ale.
The Governor of Osun state, Mr Gboyega Oyetola described Ooni Ogunwusi friendly traditional ruler who prioritizes peaceful co-existence of the his community.
The Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Ogunwusi noted that the annual programme is meant to promote cultural ethics of Yoruba land.
