Ekiti court remands man, 42, for allegedly raping 17-year-old girl

An Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court, sitting in Ado Ekiti has remanded a septuagenarian, Festus Omolade and a 42 year old man Adejugbe Ayodeji over offence of rape.

According to the charge sheet brought before the court, Festus and Ayodeji were reasonably suspected to have committed offences of conspiracy and rape on a seventeen (17) year old girl severally, in Ado Ekiti between July and August, 2021.

Police Prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, requested for the remand order to allow him forward the duplicate case file to office of Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

The victim told the court that the defendants took her to room two (2) in the hospital, where she was a nurse apprentice and have sexual intercourse with her on the promise of given her ten thousand naira (N10,000) as bribe not to reveal the secret.

The offences run contrary to Section 31 of the Child Rights’ Law of Ekiti State, 2012.

The case has been adjourned to October the 5th, 2021 for mention.
