Akure Monarch orders closure of markets

The palace of the Deji of Akure Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi has announced the closure of markets on Thursday.

Chief press secretary to the Deji, Adeyeye Michael, in a statement said the closure of markets and shops in Akure is to observe Aheregbe and amole festival

The statements hinted that all markets and shops in Akure will be shut on Thursday 19th August, 2021 and Saturday 4th September, 2021.

The closure becomes necessary as part of the requirement to observe the age long tradition of the annual Aheregbe and Amole festival.

Adeyeye emphasized that there shall be no trading or opening of shops under any guise on these days, urging residents to comply with the directives.

He however said the festival will not in any way restrict both human and vehicular movement.
