USAID Chief Concerned By ‘Dehumanizing Rhetoric’ In Ethiopia Amid War In Tigray Region

The head of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), Samantha Power says, she had raised her concerns about dehumanizing rhetoric with authorities, amid war in the country’s northern Tigray region.

Samantha power’s visit to Etiopia and to neighboring Sudan, this week follows warnings from US president Joe Biden’s administration of punitive measures against the Ethiopian government if aid is unable to reach the Tigray region.

At a news conference in the capital Addis Ababa, Samantha did not specify whether one party in the nearly nine-month war in Tigray was responsible for lifesaving aid not reaching those in need.
