24-year-old man bags life imprisonment for rape in Ekiti
An Ekiti State High Court Sitting in Ado-Ekiti has sentenced a 24 year old man, Asiwaju Dayo to life imprisonment for the two count charges bothering on rape and unlawful possession of criminal charms.
Prosecuting Counsel, Dolapo Oyewole told the court that the accused person committed the offences on 29th March, 2019 at Ikoyi Street, Ikere Ekiti, when he used charm to rape a 200 level student of Economics/Political science of College of Education, Ikere.
Offences she said was contrary to sections 357 and 213 (b) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap C16 Laws of Ekiti State,2012.
The trial judge Justice, Lekan Ogunmoye while delivering his judgment, said the sole issue for determination is resolved in favour of the prosecution.
The judge consequently found the accused person guilty as charged on both counts and sentenced him to life imprisonment on count one, and sentenced him to three years on count two.
Both Sentences are to run concurrently.
