North eastern governors call for involvement of external forces in fighting insurgency

The north-east governors’ forum has said the federal government is not showing commitment to ending the insurgency ravaging the region.

The chairman of the forum and governor of Borno state, Professor Babagana Zulum, disclosed this in his speech at the opening ceremony of the 4th north-east governors’ forum at the government house, Bauchi.

Zulum called on the federal government to seek support from the neighbouring countries, especially the republic of Chad, Cameroon and Niger, with a view to providing joint action that will lead to the end of the crisis.

He said the federal government has to look at the possibility of involving external support and hire mercenaries to end the insurgency.

The host governor, Bala Mohammed, was present with his counterparts in Gombe, Inuwa Yahaya; Adamawa, Umaru Fintiri; and Borno, Babagana Zulum.
