Ekiti court sentences 7 to life imprisonment over kidnapping, other

An Ekiti State high court sitting in Ado Ekiti has sentenced seven persons, into life imprisonment for kidnapping and receiving stolen vehicle.

The accused persons are; Solomon Ayodele Obamoyegun, Femi Omiawe, Damilola Obamoyegun, Bose Sade Ajayi and a police officer, ACP Okubo Aboye and his mechanic Niyi Ibrahim Afolabi.

Others are George Lucky, Chukwuma Nnamani and Sunday Ogunleye were sentenced into 5 years imprisonment each without an option of fine.

The trial judge, Justice John Adeyeye in his ruling explained that kidnapping people for ransom is very rampant in not only the state but in Nigeria as a whole.

He said the court will be failing in its duty to protect the members of the society if adequate punishment is not given to the accused persons.
