2018: APC Receives 3000 Defectors From PDP in Ekiti

About 3,000 members of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Ayetoro-Ekiti ward 1 on Thursday defected to the All Progressives Congress APC.

The defectors were received by the Local Government Chairman of the Party, Chief Femi Afolabi at the Ayetoro ward 1 in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Bamidele Sunday who spoke to newsmen on behalf of the defectors explained that they joined the APC to get fairness, justice and equity.

According to him, “we defected to the APC from PDP to ensure the victory of the APC at all levels in the upcoming Governorship election slated to hold on July 14 in the state.

He further stressed that he saw sincerity of purpose in the President Muhammadu Buhari’s led Federal Government, just as he commended former Governor of the state, Engr. Segun Oni for laying a foundation for the development of the state.

“A lot of things motivated me to join the APC, Segun Oni is one of the reasons, you know he’s aspiring to become the Governor of the state again, so I wish to give him my support. Besides, my ward has been marginalised, we have to come together this time around to form a winning team in order to restore the lost glory of that ward. These are the reasons for my defection into the APC fold” . He said.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the party in the Local Government area, Chief Femi Afolabi promised the defectors justice and equity .

Afolabi who received the defectors on behalf of the state party chairman, High Chief Jide Awe told newsmen that the leadership of the party would do its best to ensure the PDP-led state government was voted out of office in the July 14th Governorship poll in the state.

The party chairman who was visibly delighted at the steps taken by the decampees said they will be given equal treatment as old members.

“Today is a great day in Ido/Osi Local Government with the caliber of people defected into the APC fold from the PDP, there’s no doubt that these set of people decamping today under the leadership of Bamidele… , they are the people controlling PDP in Ido/Osi Local government, over 200 of them have decamped, few minutes ago and it gives us great joy, we know with these calibre of people leaving PDP here, PDP is already defeated in Ido/Osi and Ayetoro in particular. And I can assure you that APC is now a force to reckon with in this Local Government” .

He charged the decampees to fight tooth and nail in the forthcoming gubernatorial election by contributing meaningfully, financially, tactically and morally to ensuring victory is attained at the poll.

Afolabi said the party needs their wealth of experience to add values to the party’s value while assuring that the defectors will not disappoint the APC as he said that he has interacted with them and watched them psychologically adding that the defectors would delivered.
