Police Arrest Tricycle Robbery Suspects, Recover Stolen Vehicles in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested suspected armed robbers linked to a series of tricycle thefts in parts of Port Harcourt.

The arrests followed a complaint by a tricycle operator, who reported being robbed at gunpoint after picking up three passengers in the Elelenwo area.

Police say operatives swiftly launched an investigation, leading to the recovery of the stolen tricycle and the arrest of two suspects at a hideout in Igwuruta.

A third suspect, believed to be a receiver of stolen items, was also apprehended.

Authorities say the suspects confessed during interrogation, while items recovered include a locally made pistol, live ammunition, and stolen tricycles.

Investigations further revealed that the suspects are part of a syndicate responsible for multiple tricycle robberies across Elelenwo, Igwuruta, Tank, and Woji axis of Port Harcourt.

Police say the gang had allegedly transported more than twenty stolen tricycles to northern states, including Kano, Bauchi and Adamawa.

The Commissioner of Police has advised commercial tricycle operators to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, assuring residents of continued efforts to ensure safety and security across the state.
