Governor Aiyedatiwa, UNODC Partner to Curb Crime, Drug Abuse in Ondo

Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, says his administration remains committed to the fight against drug trafficking, cybercrime, kidnapping, and other offences.

The Governor stated this while receiving a delegation of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, led by its Nigeria Representative, Cheikh Toure, in Akure.

Dr. Aiyedatiwa noted that security and rule of law form the first pillar of his seven-point agenda, adding that the state has supported security agencies with vehicles, intelligence, and logistics.

He also highlighted youth-focused initiatives like the One Youth, One Skill programme, which empowers young people with training and grants to discourage them from crime.

In his response, Mr. Toure commended Ondo State’s efforts in security and youth development and promised stronger partnership with the state to tackle drug abuse, trafficking, and financial crimes.
