Ekiti Leaders, Police, Herders, Farmers Meet Over Rising Security Concerns

As part of efforts to curb farmer–herder clashes, the Ekiti State Government has summoned key stakeholders in the agricultural sector and relevant groups to an emergency meeting aimed at strengthening security across the state.

The meeting, held at the Lady Jibowu Hall, Government House Grounds, Ado-Ekiti, was convened to foster cooperation and peaceful coexistence between farmers and herders.

According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Rtd. Brigadier General Ebenezer Ogundana, the emergency meeting became necessary to enhance the protection of lives and property, especially as the festive season approaches.

He noted that Ekiti State has enjoyed relative peace and emphasized the importance of sustaining it.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Boluwade Ebenezer, stressed the importance of the state’s anti-grazing law and reiterated the government’s commitment to ending conflicts between farmers and herders.

Also, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Eribo, urged community stakeholders to collaborate with security agencies to curb criminal activities and maintain peace across the state.
