Elisha Abbo: Protesters storm Abuja over assault

Protesters have stormed Abuja over video of assault on a woman, released yesterday.

In the video, a senator representing Adamawa North district in the national assembly, Elisha Abbo was seen assaulting a yet-to-be-identified lady.

Leader of the protest, Deji Adeyanju wants the police force to commence an investigation into the issue.

He also advised inspector general of police, Mohammed Adamu to withdraw police attached to VIP’s.

Meanwhile, the protest is expected to move to Lagos later in the week.

Meanwhile, amnesty international has called on the Nigeria police to investigate Senator Elisha Abbo, for alleged assault on staff of an adult shop he patronizes in Abuja.

In a series of posts on its verified twitter handle, the global watchdog condemned the act and said the video of the senator assaulting women is widely available for police to act.

In the same vein, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria Festus Keyamo, also condemned the senator’s act, and called for his arrest.

The human rights activist said the case of Senator Elisha Abbo is very straightforward and requires no formal complaint.
