Dogara Backs Tinubu’s Security Efforts, Calls for Sustained Support

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s approach to tackling insecurity, saying the administration requires sustained support and more time to consolidate its efforts.

Dogara spoke at the 16th convocation ceremony of Achievers University, Owo, where he noted that terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and communal violence predated the Tinubu administration, having been fuelled over the years by porous borders, illegal arms proliferation, youth unemployment and extremist ideologies.

He affirmed that President Tinubu had made national security a central responsibility of his administration, highlighting ongoing military operations against terrorists, bandits and other criminal groups, as well as efforts to strengthen intelligence coordination and security operations.

The former Speaker also acknowledged the government’s planned recruitment of additional security personnel and other measures to strengthen the country’s security architecture.

Dogara therefore urged government agencies, traditional rulers, community leaders, schools, religious institutions, civil society organisations and business owners to unite in supporting the national effort to secure the country.
