Ondo PDP Governorship Aspirant, Arebuwa, Defects to APC

A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, Bosun Arebuwa, has defected to the All Progressives Congress alongside other PDP members in the state.

Arebuwa, who contested the PDP governorship ticket ahead of the 2024 Ondo State governorship election, led other defectors to the APC on Friday at the International Culture and Event Centre in Akure, the state capital.

The defection coincided with the launch of the Renewed Hope Project 2027 in Ondo State, with Arebuwa designated as its Grand Patron in the state and Patron for the South-West zone.

Arebuwa said he and his supporters left the PDP because they were impressed by the performance of President Bola Tinubu.

He said the group comprised supporters from more than 3,000 political units and 203 wards across the state’s 18 local government areas.

‎He said, “We have left the PDP, we want to join hands with other to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the second term in office. Mr President has done well . We shall use our resources to support that’s why we join winning party.

‎”We are leaving the PDP with all our supporters from over 3,000 units and 203 wards across the 18 local government areas the state . We are ready to work for the APC in Ondo State to ensure President Bola Tinubu and all our the candidates win the election in 2027.

‎”My first line of action is to deploy experience, my capacity, to ensure President Bola Tinubu win the presidential election come January 2027, ‎and we are well prepared because that is our cardinal objective of coming to the APC.

He has done creditable well , we have not had a good President like this before, so that’s why we will use all we have support him.”

Receiving the defectors on behalf of the APC leadership in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN, urged them to return to their wards and local government areas to work for the party.

Oke described Arebuwa as a politician whose influence would strengthen the APC in the state.

“I welcome all of you to the ruling All Progressives Congress. You will never regret joining the APC. I want to implore you to work for the party at your various wards and local governments,” he said.

Oke specifically welcomed Arebuwa, saying his defection would add value to the party’s activities in the state.

The National Patron of the Renewed Hope Project 2027, Mahmoud Ahmed Mubi, and other members of the organisation also welcomed Arebuwa participation in the movement.

Arebuwa has been designated Grand Patron of the Renewed Hope Project 2027 in Ondo State and Patron for the South-West zone, where he is expected to participate in grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
