Nigerian Army Confirms Loss of Personnel in Oyo Kidnap Rescue Operation
The Nigerian Army says some security personnel were killed during the mission to rescue the 44 kidnapped pupils and teachers in Oyo State.
The Army adds that sustained military operations forced the kidnappers to release the victims after more than one month in captivity.
It says the operation involved the military, the police, the Department of State Services (DSS), the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun, local hunters, and other security agencies.
The rescued pupils and teachers are receiving medical care and will later be reunited with their families through the Oyo State Government.
In a statement by Acting Deputy Director, Second Division, Army Public Relations, Lt. Colonel Danjuma Jonah, the Nigerian Army urges citizens to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies with credible information to improve security across the country.
