Ekiti Tricycle and Okada Riders Declare Support for Oyebanji’s Second Term Bid
Members of the Ekiti State Association of Tricycles and Okada Riders have joined the growing list of residents publicly endorsing Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second term ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election. Their endorsement is based on the visible impact of the Governor’s developmental initiatives across the state.

Speaking at the Governor’s office on Wednesday after a massive solidarity road walk, the Chairman of the Tricycle Drivers Association, Mr. Alabi Tolulope, and his counterpart from the Okada Riders Association, Mr. Kunle Asaolu, commended Governor Oyebanji for prioritizing the welfare of residents—especially those in the transport sector. They noted that since the Governor assumed office, there has been relative peace among transport unions and other associations in the state.

During the event, Mr. Asaolu moved a motion for the official endorsement of the Governor’s second-term bid, which was overwhelmingly supported by members through a thunderous voice vote. Riders from all 16 local government areas were in attendance.
He praised the Governor as a promise keeper who has consistently delivered on his campaign promises and assured him of the association’s unflinching support to ensure his return to the Government House in 2026.
Responding on behalf of the Governor, Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, expressed appreciation for the group’s unwavering support. She urged members to secure their voter cards, emphasizing that it remains the most powerful tool to actualize their support at the polls.

Prof. Adubiaro said the numerous endorsements received by Governor Oyebanji have further fueled his commitment to delivering transformational leadership. She outlined key achievements of the administration, including infrastructural development, regular salary payments, education and healthcare improvements, and initiatives promoting agriculture and food security.
Also present at the event were the Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Kolawole Akobiewe; Special Advisers to the Governor—Chief Jide Awe (Political and Inter-party Affairs), Mrs. Kemi Olaleye (Gender, Empowerment and Mobilization), Prof. Akeem Azeez (Higher Education); and the Director-General of Community Communication, Mrs. Mary Oso-Omotoso, among others.
