Ward Congress: APC 5-man Committee Commences Sitting In Ekiti
The five man appeal committee set up by the All Progressives Congress (APC) looking into grievances arising from the party’s ward congresses held on 31st of July, 2021, has started its sitting in Ekiti state.
The appeal committee which was inaugurated at the state party secretariat in Ado-Ekiti had former deputy governor of Oyo state, Iyiola Oladokun, as the chairman, while a former member of the House of Representatives, Abdullahi Sadiq from Kogi state serves as the secretary.
Other members of the APC appeal committee include: Chinedu Elumelu, Hajiya Saratu Damaturu and Talatu Nasir Daura.
The chairman of the appeal committee explained that the committee were in the state to hear all appeals arising from the conduct of the ward congress in line with the provisions of the APC constitution and guidelines.
He added that their terms of reference were to listen to all issues raised by any aggrieved members and make recommendations to the party headquarters and not to apportion blames.
He further described the APC as an organization based on rules and procedures, avenues adding that channels must be provided for party members who are dissatisfied with the ward congress, to ventilate their grievances through an internal mechanism of the party.
He appealed to members of the party to embrace the slogan of jaw-jaw rather than war-war adding that steps have been taken to ensure adequate security of lives and property during their staying in the state.
