Kidnapped Ekiti monarch regains freedom

The Obadu of Ilemeso Ekiti, Oba David Oyewumi, who was kidnapped by suspected gunmen last week Thursday has regained his freedom.

Oba Oyewumi was kidnapped in his palace by gunmen, who scaled the fence and invaded his apartment around 8.30pm on the fateful day.

The kidnappers reportedly contacted the family last Saturday and demanded 20 million Naira ransom to secure his release.

Confirming his release to Adaba FM in a telephone interview in Ado-Ekiti, the Amotekun Corps Commander in Ekiti State, Brig. Joe Komolafe (rtd) said the monarch had been reunited with his family.

Komolafe explained that he was not aware of any ransom paid to secure the monarch’s release, stressing that he regained his freedom after much pressures on the abductors.

The Amotekun Commander further explained that an informant who specializes on providing information to kidnappers in the state has also been apprehended and handed-over to police for possible prosecution.
