ICPC recovers diverted constituency project funds

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission, ICPC, has retrieved over 900 billion naira diverted constituency project funds.

The funds were allegedly siphoned by federal lawmakers in 12 states.

ICPC commissioner in Kano state, Zayyanu Danmusa, made the disclosure while unveiling members of an anti-corruption group drawn from the 44 local government areas of the state.

Danmusa accused most of the lawmakers of conniving with contractors and supervisory federal agencies to siphon funds budgeted for constituency projects to enhance the development of their communities.

He said the fight against corruption should not be left alone to the agency and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
