Police kill three suspected robbers in Benue

The Benue State Police Command has reportedly killed three suspected robbers during a gun duel at Afia in the Ukum Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement issued late Sunday, the State Command spokesperson, Catherine Anene, said that the officers from Ukum, who responded to a distress call, engaged the suspected robbers in a gun battle.

The PPRO listed items recovered from the suspects to include one locally made pistol loaded with five rounds of live ammunition, a machete, and some items suspected to be charms.

While stating that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other fleeing gang members, the PPRO said that the Commissioner of Police in the state, Wale Abass, commended the efforts of community members to assist the police in operation and assured them of quick response to distress calls.
