(PHOTOS) Hundreds of Army personnel arrive Ekiti to battle insecurity

Following the federal government’s pledge to boost security in Ekiti State, hundreds of special Army personnel have arrived at the state capital Ado.

The deployment came after gunmen killed two traditional rulers and abducted school children in the state.

The commander of the 32nd Artillery Brigade, Brig. Gen. John Lar, who addressed the Army Special Force, said that the soldiers were sent to Ekiti by the Chief of Army Staff Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja to hunt down criminals in the state.

He said that the troops were on a special mission to combat the gunmen and other outlaws who have occupied the forests in the state.

Speaking with newsmen, the governor’s special adviser on security, retired Brig. Ebenezer Ogundana, said that the soldiers would help tackle the insecurity plaguing the state.

He said that the Ekiti state government has launched a crackdown on the criminals after the recent security breaches in some parts of the state.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji, had earlier visited the Defense Headquarters in Abuja to seek the assistance of the service chiefs after the murder of two traditional rulers and the kidnapping of school children in Ekiti.
