Military, Police Issue Warning to Nigerians Ahead Presidential Tribunal Judgment

The Nigerian military says it will not allow anyone foment trouble as a result of the presidential election petition tribunal judgement to be delivered on Wednesday.

In a statement in the Federal Capital Territory, the Director, Defence Information, Brigadier-General Tukur Gusau, warns those planning to instigate violence to discard the idea as security agencies would be on ground to check such moves.

On Monday, the Chief Registrar at the Court of Appeal headquarters in the FCT, Umar Bangari, had announced that judgement in the presidential tribunal will be delivered on Wednesday.

Bangari also noted that the judgement will be aired live on television stations to promote transparency and openness and to allow Nigerians watch the proceedings.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State Police Command wants whoever may want to incite violence as a result of the outcome of the judgement to desist from such, as there is no room for trouble-makers in the Sunshine state.

In a telephone interview with Adaba FM, the command’s spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami, said irrespective of what the outcome is, no one will be allowed to cause trouble.

The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer added that policemen in the state have always carried out their duty of protecting lives and property with professionalism and that tomorrow will not be different.
