Strike: ASUU branches set to vote today, Wednesday

Branches of the Academic Staff Union of Universities will commence traditional voting today and tomorrow, Wednesday over the ongoing strike by the union.

The decision of the various branches will be transmitted to the national executive council for final decision.

A member of the NEC who pleaded anonymity said they got the directive after the meeting with the speaker, House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.

He said the intervention was timely and branches will start voting.

The development comes on the of the meeting with the speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, who called several meetings between the union and the side of the federal government.

Lead counsel to ASUU, Femi Falana had also explained that the strike would be over in a few days.
