Fufu pounders association threatens to strike over daily wage

Fufu pounders in Ghana have threatened to lay down their tools over the low wages paid them by their employers.

According to comments made by members of the Central Regional Fufu Pounders Association, the daily payment of 15ghc that is given to them for the work that they do is “very bad.”

According to the story, the employees demanded that their bosses raise their salaries or else they would begin to withhold their labour in the following days.

“The work is hard but the pay is not good. So right now, we want to tell our leaders to help us to demand an increment. If we were working in Accra, we would be getting GH¢50 or GH¢70 every day but here, we are paid 15ghc. It is not good.

“If they increase it for us, we will work for them very well. We want them to increase it to 60ghc or 70ghc,” members of the association told journalists in Twi.

However, they did not provide any specific information on the timing of the strike.
