NANS seeks common ground between FG, ASUU to avert strike

The National Association of Nigerian Students in the south west zone D has called on the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to arrive at a common ground in the interest of students to avert industrial action.

The national coordinator of the NANS Zone B comprises of all the institutions in the south western states Steven Tegbe made the call while speaking to journalists in Osogbo the Osun state capital.

Tegbe expressed concern on the danger incessant closure of varsities portends for the nation pleading with ASUU not to give effect to their threat.

It would be recalled that ASUU has been at loggerheads with the Federal Government over the non-implementation of the the Memorandum of Understanding which was signed with the Government in December 2020

He admonished the federal government to honour its own side of the agreement and forestall the impending ASUU strike.

The NANS coordinator used the opportunity to bemoaned the killings of Slyvester Oromoni (jnr) of Dowen college and Timothy Adegoke, a post graduate students of O.A.U. Ile Ife.

Tegbe noted that with the recent happenings in the country nowhere is safe for learning charging the relevant authorities to do the needful in order bring the culprits to book.
