Akure City Football Club Unveil Michael Akintunde As Sports Director

Akure City Football Club has unveiled a Sports Writer and a broadcast journalist, Mr Michael Akintunde as the club’s Sport Director.

The Chairman of the Club’s Board, Kingsley Ossai, while performing the unveiling at the Ondo State Sports Complex, Akure, expressed optimism that the new Director would bring his wealth of experience to bear at the club.

Ossai said the appointment was in a bid to improve their proficiency as a football club, and as a sports journalist who has the understanding of the round leather game internationally.

He added that the club had always strive hard to give the best to their fans both within and outside the state.

“For us to move forward, we felt Michael Akintunde is the best man to occupy the position of the sporting director with his vast experience in the game over the years,” he said.

Also, the Executive Director of the club, Banjo Adepoju added that it was pertinent for the club to have the sport director which he said would serve as catalyst for great thing in the club.

Adepoju said having sport director would also speed up the reaction time between two management functions.

He said the sport director would also be responsible for the club’s overall philosophy begining with the youth team all the way up to the first team.

He said the major target of the club ahead of the new season was to play in the Nigeria National League (NNL).

The newly appointed Sport Director, Michael Akintunde appreciated the club for the trust they had in him.
