Coronavirus: UK to hold minute’s silence for key workers

The UK Prime Minister, Mr Boris Johnson, says the country is to hold a minute’s silence to commemorate the key workers who have died with coronavirus.

More than 100 National Health Service and care staff have died with the virus.

It comes as the son of a doctor who died called on the government to issue a public apology for issues with Personal Protective Equipment, PPE.

The late doctor’s son, Intisar Chowdhury also said he wanted ministers to accept their mistakes and make private apologies to the families of health and care workers affected.

Intisar’s father, Dr Abdul Mabud Chowdhury, had died earlier this month and had warned Prime Minister Boris Johnson about a lack of PPE before being hospitalised.
