Dispute attends Mugabe’s final rest

The body of Zimbabwe’s former president Robert Mugabe will soon be taken to lie in state at a stadium in the capital, Harare.

Members of the public are expected to pay their respects for the next two days at the Rufaro stadium.

The body will then be transported to Zvimba, Mr Mugabe’s rural home to allow members of his family make their farewells before Saturday’s funeral service.

On Wednesday, Zimbabweans lined the streets of the capital to catch a glimpse of the coffin as it travelled from the airport to the late president’s mansion.

A burial is expected to be held on Sunday, but the site where the 95 year old Mugabe, will be buried is still unknown.

Meanwhile, Mugabe’s family say they are shocked at not having been consulted by the government about arrangements for the funeral of the former Zimbabwean president.

His family and the government disagree over Mr Mugabe’s final resting place.

His family says his body will be displayed in his home village of Kutama on Sunday night, and will be buried at a private ceremony
