Kirstjen Nielsen: Trump’s Homeland Security Secretary resigns

US homeland security secretary Kirstjen Nielsen has resigned.

A senior administration official disclosed that Trump asked for Nielsen’s resignation and she gave it.

Nielsen’s resignation came amid a surge in the number of migrants at the border with Mexico.

The secretary said she has agreed to stay on till Wednesday April 10th so as to assist with an orderly transition.

Trump has made a clampdown on illegal immigration a centerpiece since assuming office.
