US reassures allies of commitment to defeat ISIL
US Secretary of States, Mike Pompeo has re-assured coalition partners that the withdrawal of troops from Syria was not the end of America’s fight.
Pompeo gave the assurance while addressing leaders of countries who partnered the US to fight IS in Syria and Iraq.
He said the withdrawal was not a change in mission but a new stage in an old fight.
He added that despite the progress made in defeating the Islamic S
tate of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the group remained a dangerous threat.
Mr. Pompeo urged the leaders to help permanently defeat ISIL in Syria and Iraq.
