Ondo Govt. Distributes Relief Materials To Libyan Returnees

Ondo State Government today distributed clothes, money and other materials to its 23 indigenes who were returned from Libya last week.

In his message, the State Governor, Arakunrin Akeredolu (SAN) implored them to think of legitimate means of livelihood rather than chasing after unrealistic dreams

The Governor, whose message was delivered by his deputy, Honourable Agboola Ajayi, said:

“As you are going to your different homes now, do not return to the old ways that landed you in Libya.
Go and start something meaningful that can add value to you and the society as a whole.

Government is ready to support you in case you want to acquire a skill or learn a trade.
Put on your thinking caps, think of Nigeria first because what you are looking for in foreign land is available here.
You must not feel inferior to anyone. Blend quickly by integrating into the society.

On government’s stand over the right of individuals to travel, the Governor advised youths to do it the right way.

“We are not against individuals travelling to other countries.
Whoever wants to travel should do it in a legitimate way, not through bushes.

You should be current enough to know where to go and not where there is conflict or war.”

Earlier, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Olawumi Olatunji-Edet had expressed desire of the government to support the returnees in every way to return to normal livelihood.

The returnees thanked the state federal and state governments for bringing them back to Nigeria.

The materials were given to enable them start a new lease of life preparatory to their integration into the larger society.
