Pro, Anti-Olukere’s Protests In Ikere-Ekiti over Monarch’s Remand

The ancient town of Ikere Ekiti is now witnessing protest and counter-protest over the detention of Olukere of Ikere ,Oba Ganiyu Obasoyin.

This is just as anti Olukere protest greeted the town at the early hours of this morning.

The protesters marched through Oke-Ikere down to post office area of the town, describing the Olukere’s confinement as necessary.

Armed with placards of various inscriptions, such as “Olukere is a terrorist”, “we only recognize Ogoga as our Oba” among others.

Secretary to the Ogoga in Council, James Longe who led the protest described Olukere as an impostor who has not been presented staff of office to become an Oba but parading himself as a monarch.

But a resident of the town, Akinola Toluwa in an interview with Adaba FM described the protest as a child’s play, sponsored by the state government.

Meanwhile,a magistrate court in Ado Ekiti is expected to sit on the alleged murder case as it’s slated for January, the 8th this year.
