Ekiti Council Poll Records Low Turnout

Low turnout of voters characterized the election into chairmanship and councillorship seats that was held today across the sixteen local Government areas of Ekiti State.

Adaba FM’s Correspondent Tunde Akinlabi who monitored the election at unit 001, ward -2, Okeruku ward and Unit 004 , Unity School 1, Oke-Osun in Ikere-Ekiti reports that the poll was conducted under peaceful atmosphere, but witnessed low turn out .

The restriction order placed by the state government was not in total compliance by the people as market was in full session in Ikere Ekiti and Iyin -Ekiti ,while many traders displayed their wares in Ilawe-Ekiti .

Also at Unit 6, ward 009 in Ado Ekiti a Presiding officer, Ogunsakin Dolapo told Adaba FM that only PDP party agent monitored the exercise.

However, Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Olusola Eleka denied the low turn out saying people went to market to shop for christmas.

The exercise has been concluded in almost all the polling units visited as early as 12: noon, while sorting and counting of ballot papers were on going .
