Sani Shehu lauds Buhari’s directive on food importation

Senator Sani Shehu, has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari’s directive to the Central Bank of Nigeria not to issue forex for food importation.

Shehu said that Buhari’s directive was a step in the right direction, as it would boost food production.

He said, the presidential directive to the CBN to stop issuance of forex for food importation is the right step forward as it will boost food production at home.”

Shehu went on to call for the handing over of the agriculture financing to the bank of agriculture and not the CBN.

President Buhari had on Tuesday in Daura, Katsina state, disclosed that he has directed the CBN to stop providing foreign exchange for importation of food into the country, based on the steady improvement in agricultural production, and attainment of full food security.
